Well, Microsoft is late with their updates again this month, I went to restart the desktop last night and found it'd downloaded, we usually get updates on the 10th of each month, so 4 days late, there was a good 700 MB of the updates too, I guess I should update the 2 laptops now.. I have a feeling support has finished on Windows 7 now, if it has my Windows 8 laptop may get updated to 8.1 Professional seeing the discs are still sittinng on the back of the desk unused, O like Windows 7 so if the message I got last month is correct I'll be a bit peeved, I think Windows 8 is easier to use than 8.1 or 10..

I thought about going to church this morning, but after all the funerals I've been to over the past 10 to 15 years the church likely doesn't need to see more of this old fella, I'm not sure if it's me but having been to so many funerals now it's put me off the idea of going to sunday services, perhaps if I'd had a few weddings and baptisms over the past years I'd be feeling more inclined to make the effort to gerto some sunday services.. A lazy day at home seems like a good idea seeing 2 out of 3 computers are now updated..

Well, the shopping is done and the bills are paid for another week, I was glad to get out reasonably early too as it was 32 degrees celsius at 10.00 a.m., it looks like another day of temps in the high 30's here today, better being in a nice shady spot now, hopefully the rest of the day goes quietly, it's to hot to be energetic..

I'd go to the beach today and hide in a shady spoy while I'm not wallowing in the water, sadly no transport to get there at present so sitting in the shade and catching any little breezes will have to do this old man, another month or so and we'll see the last of the summer heat here.. I can remember the days when 30 degrees was a really hot day here and only got that hot possibly 10 times all summer, nowadays we get over 35 degrees every day as a normal thing, I wonder if there's some truth in the global warming thing?

Looking forward to a peacefully quiet day today seeing both the temperature and humidity are up, we've had really tight water restrictions for the past month, so there's no standing under the garden hose to keep cool, if folks pools aren't full already they aren't allowed to fill them now, it also means no barbecues at present as they're seen as a fire risk, especally the old barbecues that use charcoal, we do like our barbecues in summer too..

The heatwave continues here and due to get hotter over the weekend, I wouldn't mind so much if the council hadn't imposed such tight water restrictions about a month ago, it basically means no filling swimming pools or using garden hoses now, so if pools weren't full between the first lot of water restrictions and now there's no way of getting properly cool.. I went to the local river with a friend last evening, the river is normally at least 4.5 feet deep, at present it's down to a bare trivkle, the deepest patches may be 6 inches deep at most, just enough to get the feet wet so no swimming there for quite some time, our beaches are super crowded ay present as we have a lot of tourists in town this month for the various Deco City month events, so no shady spots to sit in are left there..

I hate saying it, but I'll be almost glad when summers over, this summer has been the hottest we;ve had for ovrr 10 years, we had a short sharp summer then with temps in the 40's, this summer has been a long stint of temps in the mid/high 30's, this time next month should see us cool down a bit..

It was good to see a little rain overnight last night, it cooled us down enough to be able to sleep properly for a change, a good nights sleep always gets us in a better frame of mind, we have a much cooler day today to look forward to as well.. I hope there wasn't to many accidents last night as a result of the rain, prolonged dry spells usually sees people here forget the roads get slippery after a bit of rain after a long dry spell, the last significant rainfall here was back in November with just a few days of intermittant misty rain..

Seeing it's sunday and not so hot today this old mans going to be lazy today once the washing is done, that means a poppa nap after the roast beef lunch to help recharge for next week which loos like it could be reasonably busy..

I ended up with a jersey on and the heater after the drop in temperature yesterday, it was a nice 37 degrees on saturday which dropped to 20 degrees yesterday, the jersey was on by mid morning and the heater went on just after lunch, if we didn't have the cold southerly wind I wouldn't have needed the heater on, hopefully it'll be warmer tomorrow seeing it's shopping day.. With it still being a bit on the cool side today it looks like I'll be inside and online today, I might sneak a poppa nap after lunch though, cold weather is a good reason to catch up on a little sleep..

Well, the shopping and bills are done for another week, this old mans broke for another week, but at least there's food to eat and the lights come on when I flip the switch, at that rate we can't moan to much eh.. Just enjoying a cuppa and a break before lunch now, it's nice to stop doing for a while too..

After a busy day yesterday I'm hoping for a quiet day once the last of yesterdays emails are replied to, I ended up with some 500 emails yesterday, every time I replied to one, two more came in so it was about 11.00 p.m. before I stopped and left a few for this morning, it's good being hearing impaired, it saved a fortune in long distance calls yesterday, lol, I guess having the internet is good in that respect, when I first got the internet I went from getting phone bills for $200 a month for long distance calls to paying $30 a month for the internet, that's a big saving now with being on a limited income..

We have a good day for being lazy and sitting outside with a good book and doing as little as possinle, sadly I'm still replying to some 200 emails which needed answers yesterday, methinks it may be a late night tonight, if I plan it right I can sneak a poppa nap after lunch without anyone knowing..

This old man is waiting for the washing to finish so it can get pegged out on the line, then it's a lazy day today, I hope.. With the heat here today the washing should be dry by lunch time, 2 hours maximum, one good thing about summer here I guess..

The drought goes on here, we haven't had any significant rain since early last November, as a result the water restrictions continue to be really tight here, no using garden hoses or the car wash at the local service stations, if pools weren't full before the water restrictions there's no filling them now, the worst thing is we aren't allowed a barbecue because of the fire risk, at least we live near the coast so we can get to the beach for a swim and get fish & chips for lunch id we're to lazy to take a picnic, there's a few good rivers here, sadly there's precious little water in them at present, the ones that are usually over 8 feet deep only have enough water for us to get our feet wet.. .. Yhe surprising thing is that our council is over 15 years behind on finding new water supplies so the population is growing, but no new supplies to keep up with demand.. If the weather clears by lunch time I may get a ride to the beach and get a shady spot to sit in..

It's sunday morning and after a night of activity here in Hawkes Bay things are as quiet as a church mouse.. Wr have Deco week here every February which usually sees events on for the whole month including the Mission Concert which sees a lot of well known singers come here for, so all the locals and a number of out of town folk are likely now broke from, the Deco month brings a lot of tourists into town and spending money, all the motels and hoels are always fully booked during February, trying to keep up with what's on each day wears this old man out, lol.. It looks like I'm stopping in today and having a lazy day seeing it's sunday, I may put my feet up after lunch and watch a movie in TV for a change..

I was up at 5,00 a.m. as usual and got online just after 8.00 a.m. thinking no emails waiting for replies yet, 15 minutes later and there was about 50 emails there, most are now replied to, just a few that can wait to be answered, so much for a quiet monday morning.. Hopefully I can slow dwn for a while and enjoy another cuppa..

Well, another busy tuesday morning, the shoppings done and put away and the bills paid for another week, I may be broke again but things are up to date again.. I decided to stop for a bit and have a cuppa and a rest while I wait for the washing to finish, a day like today it'll be dry in a couple of hours on the line.. The joys of living alone means there's always something to do unfortunately, at least it keeps us occupied though...

I was going to go over to the park and feed the ducks today, but we have rain so it looks like a lazy day indoors instead, after a few busy daus this old fella needs a lazy day and possibly a poppa nap after lunch. I'm sure the ducks won't mind waiting until tomorrow for their extra feed..

It looks like we may have an early autumn starting this year, normally our summer heat lasts until the end of March, I had to put the heater on last might and currently have a jersey and woolly shoes on to keep warm, we should still be getting at least 30 degree days at present, hopefully today is just a result of yesterdays much needed rain and things will warm up again in a day or two.. I may stop home today and get a few online chores done seeing it's a bit cooler and looking like it could rain again..

It looks like I;m staying inside again today, it's to cold and wet to go out today, when we get the southerly breezes which thankfully isnt to often it gets really bitter, the breezes are real bone chillers, or can be.. I didn't get caught up on all my online chores yesterday, so I'll be making an attempt at whittling the list down today, all I have to do is get the washing into the clothes dryer shortly..

It looks like the ducks will get a visit from me today, I've got about 3 weeks worth of stale bread in the freezer I've been saving for them, they may appreciate the bread if nothing else, lol.. They're actually quite well fed, a lot of folk in the area go over with the kids and feed them, most of them are quite tubby, as are the geese, I'm sure I'm not the only person to think about roast duck from over there, I suspect we'd get in trouble for catching them outside of duck shooting season though, with them being in a public park they're protected, even during duck shooting season..

Well, it's not long gone 9.30 a.m. and the dishes are done, a few nights meals is cooking and the washing is on and I've stopped for a coffee and a break for a while, it's monday and this old fella has a bit of mondayitis, so I don't feel like doing much of anything, I better not stop altogether or there'll be no getting started again, lol..

I thought I was smart getting the shopping done and put away earlier than usual this morning and getting a load of towels out on the clothes line, got online to find some 50 emails waiting for me, most of them are replied to now, the rest can wait until this evening while I'm watching TV.. It's a nice day out so I'll take a laptop outside shortly and sit in a sheltered spot and work there, it's not long until it's winter so I want to make the most of what nice days we get until it's to cold to sit outside..
